History of Indian Trail, NC

The Waxhaw Indians once maintained a network which spanned from the Carolinas to Petersburg, Virginia. This trade route was composed of a single trail. When the town was incorporated in 1907, it was named Indian Trail in honor.  

Indian Trail has seen growth ever since movement to the suburbs became trendy in the 1950s. Many residents commute to Charlotte from Indian Trail for work. The town is always looking to improve itself for the benefit of its residents. Currently, Indian Trail is working to become more bicycle and pedestrian friendly. 

To Do in Indian Trail

The town has maintained its agrarian roots. Fruit and vegetable enthusiasts come from miles away to visit Indian Trail's Wise Acres farm, where they can pick strawberries, pumpkins, and other produce during the warmer months of the year.  Indian Trail also boasts Crossing Paths Park, which holds community events and features an aphitheater, picnic space, and a playground.
